Our trip to Dubai

Dubai:

Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, whose capital is the city of the same name. It is located on the coast of the Persian Gulf, in the Arabian desert, and is bordered to the south by the emirate of Abu Dhabi, by Sharjah to the northeast and, through the exclave of Hatta, by the Sultanate of Oman to the southeast and with the emirates of Ajman to the west and Ras al-Khaimah to the north. The saltwater inlet of the Persian Gulf called Khawr Dubayy runs through the capital city in a northeast-southwest direction, covering a total area of 4114 km².

The first Augustinian inhabitants of the emirate were dedicated to the pearl trade, an activity on which they would base their economy until the 20th century and which would allow them to have commercial relations with China, India and Pakistan, mainly. Its economic progress and strategic location in the Persian Gulf motivated the ambition of other nations to seize its trade routes. In 1766, Great Britain took control of the routes that linked them to the Persian Gulf, and since then Dubai became a protectorate of the British Government, a situation that would prevail for almost two centuries. Since 1833 the Al Maktum dynasty has ruled the emirate. The discovery of oil in Dubai in the 1960s brought about a significant change in the economy and administration of Dubai. In the following decade the United Arab Emirates were formed, ending its dependency relationship with the United Kingdom.

The Government of Dubai is governed by a constitutional monarchy system, headed by Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum since 2006. There is the Municipality of Dubai, whose objectives are oriented to urban planning, citizen services and maintenance of the local services. Most of the population residing in the emirate is foreign and comes mainly from the rest of the Asian continent. Although the economy had a significant boom as a result of the development of the oil industry in the country, the sectors That generate the most income in the emirate are construction, commerce, entrepôt -also referred to the trade practiced in a free zone- and financial services; the tourist focus is also notable, especially that destined to shopping. It is home to several notable buildings and infrastructure works such as the luxury hotels Burj Al Arab and Burj Khalifa - the tallest in the world, at 828 m high - the gates os of Mina Rashid and Jebel Ali, and the artificial island housing complex The World and The Palm Islands. The low unemployment rate has attracted a large number of foreigners to move to the emirate in search of better job opportunities. Regarding its culture, it can be concluded that it is strongly influenced by Islam, and Arab and Bedouin society. reflected in the rules of dress and dress, literature, gastronomy and art.
